Senate Speaker Ken Makelo Lusaka was on Sunday cleared to vie for the Bungoma County gubernatorial seat for the third time. He emerged victorious in 2013 before losing to incumbent Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati in 2017. Lusaka was cleared at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in Milimani, Bungoma town, alongside his running mate Jennifer Mbatiany.

Kenneth Makelo Lusaka is the second and current speaker of the Kenyan Senate. He was previously the first Governor of Bungoma County but failed to secure his second tenure to Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati.
