A Ugandan doctor is on the run after administering fake covid 19 vaccines. According to Ugandan news outlet Daily Monitor, State House Health Monitoring Unit confirmed that over 800 Ugandans and an unknown number of clients from various companies, received fake covid 19 vaccines. Some of the patients who received the fake covid 19 jab, have since lost their lives during the second wave of covid 19.
Ugandan heads say that more than 800 people and an unidentified number of clients from several companies in the Kampala Metropolitan area received fake Covid-19 jabs.The report followed release of the test results for samples taken from the batch of vaccines. The director of the State House health monitoring Unit, Dr. Warren Naamara, told Daily Monitor that the suspects involved including a doctor currently on the run, deceived several people and companies.
In excess of 800 individuals and undisclosed number of customers from a few organizations in Kampala Metropolitan region got phony Covid-19 hits. Dr Warren Naamara, the head of State House Health Monitoring Unit, revealed to Daily Monitor that the suspects, including a specialist, who is as of now on the run, tricked a few group and organizations and infused them with counterfeit antibodies between May 15 and June 17.
The number of Covid-19 cases in Africa have been rising cases due to lack of vaccines to fight the fast spreading respiratory disease. African countries have been relying on Western countries the UN and WHO to aid them in vaccinating their citizens, since few of them can afford the vaccines.
Police in Uganda have arrested two nurses and were pursuing for a man who had posed as a doctor to sell and administer fake Covid-19 vaccines to members of the public amid a rising second wave of infections. Police said the suspect (Phoney doctor ) had lured many companies to make payments so as to receive vaccines, ranging at a cost between 100,000- 200,000 Ugandan shillings ($28-$56) per shot.
