Atkins Global, a United Kingdom architecture design and planning company just submitted the final design for the construction of an iconic Railway City in the heart of Nairobi City.
The Nairobi express way is a 27 Km four lane dual carriage way, which runs along the median strips of Mombasa Road (starting at Mlolongo), Uhuru Highway and Waiyaki Way, (terminating at James Gichuru Road). This is a Ksh.62 billion development project financed by the China Road and Bridge Construction(CRBC) on a build-operate-transfer model.This means that,the CRBC is responsible in financing the project, building and Operating the tolled road for 27 years during which it will recover its cost of course with interest before transferring its operation to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).

On Friday, there will be a nationwide memorial service at Nyayo stadium for Kenyans to pay their last respects to the former president Mwai Kibaki. Kibaki passed away last Friday at the age of 90 and funeral preparations have been going on since then. For three days since Monday till Wednesday, Kibaki's body lay at the parliament buildings where Kenyans had the chance to view it for the last time.
On Sunday, May 7, many Nairobi highways will be blocked when Kenya holds the Nairobi City Marathon. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) informed city residents that the closure would affect the Uhuru Highway and Mombasa Road. Haile Selassie Avenue, Moi Avenue, City Hall Way, Taifa Road, Parliament Road, Mama Ngina Street, and Kimathi Street will all be blocked.Kenyatta Avenue, Koinange Street, Monrovia Street, Muindi Mbingu Street, University Way, Simba Street, Globe Roundabout, Kipande Road, Museum Hill Road, Bunyala Road, and Masaba Road would all be blocked during marathon hours, according to KeNHA.

The government has finally given to concerns of Kenyans after a photo of Nairobi Expressway went viral depicting drainage pipes hanging over the Nairobi Expressway in some sections of the toll highway. In a post that was shared by NTV journalist Ben Kitili, Kenyans raised concerns over the pipes in which some alleged will pour the drainage water to the motorists below during rainy season.
Nairobi Expressway is currently open for the public. Those that can use this toll highway are drivers who have registered with the Moja Expressway Company and by 14th May when the 27.1km road was opened for the public, 11,000 car owners had already registered with the company to use the road.

The National Police Service (NPS) has delivered a rundown of streets that will be shut on Friday. The streets will be shut down during the late President Mwai Kibaki's state burial service which will occur at the Nyayo Stadium. A few visitors are supposed to meet at the Nyayo Stadium for a state memorial service of the late president in front of his internment on Saturday.
The long awaited Nairobi Expressway was today officially opened, motorist can now use the 27.1 Kilometer road that cuts through the city from Westlands to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The road has four-lanes and six-lane dual carriageway within the existing median of Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway and Waiyaki Way as well as 10 interchanges.

Hence it means that some activities in the city will be disrupted to allow the function to run smoothly till the end so that the normal procedure to be embarked as soon as the function comes to the end.

The roads will be closed during the late President Mwai Kibaki's state funeral which will happen at the Nyayo Stadium. Several guests are expected to meet at the Nyayo Stadium for a state funeral of the late president ahead of his burial on Saturday.
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company have announced that there are some parts of Nairobi that will face water shortage as from Friday 14th for two consecutive days. According to the memo they released on their official social media handle, they will stop the water supply along the Uhuru Highway due to the construction of the Nairobi expressway as from 6.00 am.
Motorist will pay at least sh 115 to use the Nairobi Expressway which is almost complete but is yet to be opened for trials. Those who plan to be using the Nairobi Expressway will register with sh 12, 400 to use the road on a return trip between Mlolongo and Westlands which is an additional cost of living to many Nairobi Motorist.
Several parts of Nairobi county are set to go without water for 24 hours starting from 6:00 am Thursday, April 14 to 6:00am on Friday April 15. The Nairobi city water and sewerage company said in a statement that the move will enable the interconnection of new and old water pipes."

The National Police Service has announced traffic disruption on four major roads within Nairobi on Friday, April 29, due to the funeral service of the late former President, Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki. In a statement dated Thursday, April 28, and signed by police spokesperson, Bruno Shioso, a procession to the stadium led by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will affect the flow of traffic on some parts of the procession route, namely Procession Way, Kenyatta Avenue, Uhuru Highway and Aerodrome Road.
