Following a settlement between telecoms and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), Kenyans may soon benefit from decreased calling charges. Telcos and the CA came to an out-of-court agreement that will result in reduced voice calls owing to a 41% reduction in mobile termination charges.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended Justice Said Juma Chitembwe and set a Tribunal to investigate claims of wrongdoing against the Judge. This after the President received a Petition from the Judicial Service Commission on the removal from office of Justice Chitembwe, Judge of the High Court of Kenya.

According to a report by the Saturday Nation, the Tribunal while ruling the petition that was table to their office by some officials of the Democratic Party argued that the deal was not authorized by the party officials.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader has suffered a major setback after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal affirmed that he is still a member of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Coalition Party despite his announcement on Monday that he had exited the coalition.
The PPDT ruled on Tuesday, May 10, that Mutua and his party should have sought internal solutions to settling differences inside Azimio. Mutua had petitioned the Tribunal for an advise on whether the arrangement with Azimio was legally binding. The Machakos governor contended that because his party joined Azimio six months before the election, the condition prohibiting member parties from quitting six months before the election does not apply.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party has been barred by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal from exiting the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition. The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal ruled out that Maendeleo Chap Chap should have invoked the internal dispute resolution mechanisms first before moving to the tribunal body. The Tribunal also stated clearly that the complaint by the party was prematurely filed that it would have been allowed to exit the coalition.
