Residents of Tiaty Sub-County in Baringo County are protesting plans by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to establish a training and a base camp in the area as they fear that the move would render them homeless.On Saturday, locals drawn from all the affected wards in Tiaty turned up in large numbers to attend a meeting convened by the KDF and the local political leadership to discuss the new development at Chemolingot AIC grounds.
On Saturday, the CS of Interior Security Dr Fred Matiang'i while speaking after he toured Ol Moran in Laikipia announced that the schools which had been closed due to insecurity will be reopened. According to CS Matiang'i, the schools will be fully guarded by the police officers.

County government of Baringo has entered into a mutual agreement with Geothermal Development Company to improve on security, enhance water provision and increase literacy levels in areas the company operate on.
