Outgoing Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong who was eyeing to capture the Teso South parliamentary race has already drafted his concession speech even before the final tallying of constituency votes after provisional results saw him trail at number three with a very wide range. In the ongoing tallying exercise being conducted at Amukura district headquarters, incumbent member of parliament Geoffrey Omuse who is defending his seat on an independent ticket and former MP Mary Emaase of UDA are the leading candidates and one of them stands a chance of carrying the day by end of business.

Worrying News For Otuoma as Poll Places Him a Distant Third in The Busia Gubernatorial Race
Paul Otuoma came in second place in the 2017 Busia gubernatorial elections, losing by less than 10,000 votes to incumbent governor Sospeter Ojaamong. After leaving ODM due to major rigging of the nomination process, Otuoma ran as an independent candidate. Five years later, the former Funyula legislator has rejoined ODM and is widely seen as the favourite to succeed Ojaamong.However, according to a survey released by TIFA Research on Thursday, 10 March, if elections are held today, Otuoma would come a distant third behind Florence Mutua and Sakwa Bunyasi.In the poll, 31% of residents would vote Mutua, 19% Bunyasi while only 17% would cast their ballot in favour of Otuoma.
