Congo-Brazzaville pmPresidential Candidate Guy Brice Parfait Kolelas has died after contracting Covid-19.The director of his election campaign said Kolelas died while being airlifted from Brazzaville on Sunday.The 61-year-old Korelas was diagnosed with the virus on Friday which was the last day of the election campaign.

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda Congo-Brazzaville, President Sassou-Nguesso has officially announced that he will be running for a fourth term. The 77 - year - old has been in power for 36 years (1979-1992 and then 1997-present). Election is scheduled for March 21st 2021. In a video seen by Opera News, Nguesso says that youth cornered him and didn’t give him any other choice than running again for president. Today is presidential elections day in the Republic of Congo, and their internet has been switched off according to Netblocks.AFP media house has also noted that the internet access stopped shortly after midnight on Saturday and was still down as polling stations opened on Sunday morning.
Jacques Joaquim Yhombi Opango, Former Republic of Congo president died in France on Monday of the Covid-19, a disease that is currently a pandemic worldwide. His son, Jean-Jacques told AFP, that he died at a Paris hospital while receiving treatment. He has died at the age of 81. His son has also added that, the former president had been ill. Mr Jacques Joaquim led Congo-Brazzaville from 1977 to 1979 before he was defeated in 1979 by Denis Sassou Nguesso. The former president was an army officer at his youth
At 77, Sassou Nguesso is four times older than the average Congolese, whose median age is 19.He supported a 1968 movement that toppled president Alphonse Massamba-Debat and brought Marien Ngouabi to power.
