Sarah Korere, the Laikipia North Member of Parliament has revealed the groups of people funding the bandits behind the insecurity that has been witnessed on Laikipia county in recent days. According to the legislator, tycoons and government agencies are secretly providing the bandits with financial muscles which has enabled them to easily purchase powerful weapons which can only be bought by rich people.
Laikipia skirmishes have been trending for almost a month since heavy gunfight characterized by exchange if bullets and destruction of property rocked the region. The war was calmed down after the Government deploying several security officials. Probe into the main cause of the regular fights is in progress as more details have continued being unraveled.

A group of Maasai youth has come out to protest for the jailing of the former Laikipia North Member of Parliament Mathew Lempurkel by sending a message to Raila Odinga, threatening to note vote for him if he will not support the jailed legislator. The youth asked Raila to kindly come out, and speak for Lempurkel who has been jailed who a whole year, without an alternative of even a fine, something which is not good at all according to them.

Mathew Lempurkel Lekidime, a former Member of Parliament from Laikipia North, has been sentenced to one year in prison for assault. From previous cases, he was arrested in 2018 and accused of incitement to violence in the Laikipia region by inciting the local communities to fight.
There has been an exchange of gunfire between bandits and National Police Reservists in Ol' Moran Laikipia. The bandits have torched learning institutions which was recently closed over insecurity. Tiaty MP William Kamket denied charges of incitement to violence over insecurity in Laikipia which has left eight people dead, among them three police officers.
