The Recruits Training School (RTS) is the home for the foundational training for Kenya Defence Forces. Located 22 kilometers from Eldoret Town, Uasin Gishu County, the institution is tasked with the transformation of civilians to soldiers. Up until 7th July 2008, RTS was a constituent school of the Armed Forces Training College (AFTC) Lanet now Kenya Military Academy (KMA). RTS has since detached from Kenya Military Academy and currently operates independently as the only Recruits Training Institution in Kenya.
