The pontiff has today Wednesday, 14 July, been discharged from the hospital after undergoing successful surgery. Pope Francis have today, Wednesday, has been discharged from Gemelli University Hospital in Rome. He had been admitted after undergoing colon surgery. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni disclosed the information to the journalists upon inquiry. Bruno went on to say that after he was discharged, the pope went to the Basilica of St. Mary Major where he knelt before the statue of the Virgin Mary and thank God for the successful surgery and also prayed for the sick, especially those he met during his stay in the hospital.
