Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party boss Raila Odinga attempted to pour could water on reports that the opposition coalition had disintegrated after the August general elections by holding a rally in respect of a Jubilee party candidate. As The People Daily reports, the former prime minister visited Utawala area in Nairobi where he threw his weight behind Jubilee party candidate in the Utawala member of the county assembly (MCA) by-election.
Jubilee Candidate Beats UDA Candidate to Win Utawala Ward Seat in Nairobi County
Jubilee candidate Patrick Karani has been the duly elected member of county assembly representing Utawala ward in Nairobi county. Returning officer for Utawala ward Kennedy Kamau officially declared the ward by election results today and issued a winning certificate to the Jubilee party candidate. The announcement event was attended by Jubilee party top leadership led by national secretary general Jeremiah Kioni.

The Nairobi County Assembly in 2017 was dominated by President Kenyatta's Jubilee Party which won 45 out of the 85 ward rep elections. A UDA wave that drove the Jubilee out of the capital five years ago has left the ruling party with only six ward representatives. With 36 MCAs, the UDA party of the incoming president William Ruto is now the largest in the Nairobi County Assembly.
