In a video posted blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, several cars costing over 3 million each are seen parked in a police station with its registration plates plucked.The cars ranged from toyota land cruisers, range rover, volks wagen and mercedes benz.Nyakundi post.This comes after NTSA announced a crack down on vehicles fitted with the 'modest' plates.
Road safety related accidents have been on the rise recently that has left road users fearful of their own well being.The national transport and safety authority NTSA has been trying to burn the midnight oil to try and find ways to curb such a menace.Earlier today, a grisly accident was reported in Embu county involving a personal vehicle and a lorry.
The National Transport and Safety Authority has today morning started a crackdown for the motorist having vehicles with customized number plates.The NTSA today cracked down vehicles within the Nairobi central business district.Among the cars were high end machines .The customized number plates are said not to be issued by the authority offices along langata road.
On Wednesday 28 May 2019 the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai issued a circular to the Director of Traffic stating who is allowed to mount a siren and get V.I.P.clearance for use of the road in Kenya.Besides the President, Deputy President and First Lady the list also included Cabinet Secretaries for Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs and their Principal Secretaries as well as ambulances and fire brigade vehicles Section 119, Cap 403 of the Traffic Act partly states that "every driver shall, upon hearing of any gong, bell (other than a bicycle) or siren indicating the approaching of a police vehicle, ambulance, fire engine, should at once give such vehicle right of way, and if necessary pull his or her vehicle to the side of the road".
According to information posted on Expose Rouge and Killer Drivers - Kenya Facebook page, several people are nursing serious injuries after two passenger's buses collided head on with each at Kizingo in Kilifi County along the Mombasa - Malindi Highway.This is coming shortly after the most recent accident that claimed lives of almost fifteen people including the two drivers at the same same spot.
