Within Raila Odinga's ODM party in Mt Kenya, fierce infighting has erupted over his potential running mate for the 2022 presidential election. In the vote-rich region, four camps have formed, each promoting its preferred candidate for Raila's presidential ticket's Number Two spot. Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyajui, his Laikipia counterpart Ndiritu Muriithi, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth are among the front-runners for the role.
A dramatic scene unfolded on Sunday night at Kutus town in Kirinyaga county after a group of Bodaboda operators accused Laikipia governor, Ndiritu Muriithi, for lying to them. According to the riders, the Laikipia governor had promised to pay them for chanting pro Raila Odinga slogans and also for escorting his entourage during his Sunday visit in Kirinyaga.

On Saturday, the CS of Interior Security Dr Fred Matiang'i while speaking after he toured Ol Moran in Laikipia announced that the schools which had been closed due to insecurity will be reopened. According to CS Matiang'i, the schools will be fully guarded by the police officers.
