Reports of a nine-storey building that collapsed during the night emerged online evoking panic mood among residents and Kenyans. According to reports, the building which was under construction was sited at a place known as OJ in Ruiru, Kiambu county. Sources have it that it collapsed in darkness at around 3 Am.
The National Construction Authority have ordered for demolition of Orange Democratic Movement politician Dr James Gesami who is the current Deputy Governor of Nyamira County. NCA giving the reasons for why the house should be be demolished stated that proper procedures in its construction was not followed. NCA stated that the Building was supposed to have only four flours but had more than the required number.

At least 12 people have been injured after a building under construction collapsed at Mamboleo area in Kisumu. Moments after the collapse of the building, neighbors pulled out a mother and her child who had been trapped in the rubbles. The twelve were rushed to Jaramogi Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Police in Kisumu have confirmed that they have arrested the contractor of the collapsed building in Mambolea area and they are currently holding him at Kondele Police Station. However, the officers are yet to trace the whereabouts of the owner of the building, who has been missing since the tragedy happened.
