Kenya has been heavily affected by drought in the past few months with many people going hungry as their animals and food crops die due to the lack of rain and excessive heat. The government has since sent relief food to various counties such as Turkana, Garissa, and Marsabit among others but that seems not to be the long-lasting solution to the problem.

The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a new paybill number on Monday, November 28, for Kenyans to share their salaries as donations to the National Drought Response Committee. According to Gachagua, the paybill was created specifically to rally every Kenyan towards supporting millions of people affected by the drought in some parts of the country.
