The residents of Ugenya Constituency in Siaya county were left surprised after their Member of Parliament David Ochieng Ditched the Azimio La Umoja and joined their rival camp, Kenya Kwanza led by President-Elect William Ruto. According to K24 the Ugenya residents demonstrated blocking Kisumu - Busia road Protesting the decision from their Member of Parliament, citing that they were not consulted.

Youthful Siaya county senatorial aspirant Honourable James Wamban has been officially cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to run for the Siaya county Senate seat in the 9th August general elections. Honourable James Wamban will be contesting under the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party and he is amongst the top candidates in the race and he will be battling ODM's Oburu Oginga, Tonny Yogo, JT Okinda amongst others.
