Mike Sonko, a former governor of Nairobi, has once more petitioned the high court for an injunction to overturn the cancellation of his candidacy by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to run for governor of Mombasa. Sonko presented the plea to Mombasa High Court Judge Olga Sewe via his attorney Winfred Nyamu.

The former Nairobi governor Hon Mike Sonko who was impeached by the county assembly leaders over graft cases will be knowing his Fate today at the high court in Mombasa county. Mike Sonko who is aspiring to be the governor of Mombasa county is also charger with graft cases which has led to the independent electoral and boundaries commission to stop him from contesting in the next general election which is planned to happen on August this year.
