Grief and shock engulfed Cherangany Estate, Trans Nzoia county after a police officer committed suicide under unclear circumstances. Corporal Rionosia Maiywa is said to have shot himself dead at his house in Cherangany police station. According to a police report, Maiywa shot himself on the left chin and the bullet exited through the right side of the head.

A sad incident occurred on Thursday night, a police officer commited suicide. The deceased, was from manning the ongoing KCSE exams when he ended his dear life. The incident occured in Cherangany police station, Trans Nzoia County at 8p.m . The deceased, Corporal Rionosia Maiywa, was about to head out for night patrol when he pulled the trigger on himself.

Trans Nzoia County police are investigating the suicide death of a 49-year-old colleague on Thursday night. The officer, who has since been identified as Corporal Rionosi,a Maiywa from West Pokot, was assigned to the Cherangany Police Station in Trans Nzoia. Cherangany OCPD Okumu Dulo confirmed the incident, saying the deceased is alleged to have shot himself in the head while in his house but did not leave a note explaining why.
