When we see Omena displayed around in open air markets ,we only think of it as some fish from Lake Victoria, captured, dried up and distributed. However, there is more to preparing Omena for the market distribution than we think; this starts from the time boat owners/intermediate distributors take them from the fishermen.
Yesterday DP Ruto bragged himself to claim that the Mount Kenya belongs to him and his opponents are wasting time to hunt for votes there. He declared that anyone who wants to climb the Mountain then must pass through him and seek his blessing. However, his daring remarks have raised heated debates among Kenyans.

Fishing is a vital economic activity in Kenya. It is mainly carried out on rivers and lakes. The fish caught are sold directly to consumers or are transported to fish processing plants. Fishing generates income to fishermen and fishmongers. In addition, it is an important source of food.

The incidence took place today at one am in the night in Kisumu at Nyagina bay.This comes only one week earlier when ten people drowned in the lake when their boat could not withstand the waves of the ocean. The incidence of yesterday night happened when five fishermen met the tragic accident when waves hit their boat .Unable to withstand the magnitude of the wave the boat capsized exposing the five men to the risk of drowning.Two of the fishermen were saved by others who were in the fishing squad.However three drowned in the process of trying to rescue them.
Homabay residents view bodies of ten people who died in Lake Victoria boat tragedy. The development comes only a day after autopsy were conducted on the bodies of 10 people who succumbed on Tuesday last week in a boat tragedy in Lake Victoria near Pier beach within Homa Bay Town at the county Referral Hospital.
The government is dredging Mbita Causeway Bridge to allow large water vessels to pass under the bridge with ease. “The project is good for our economy because it will boost trade between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. It is making the lake deep and fishermen should be careful," she said.

While speaking on Saturday September 4th in Vihiga county the Bungoma senator stated that the Luhyas have supported Luo and Kikuyu presidential aspirants and its time the two communities return a hand.
Several politicians across the country have been preaching against tribal politics which can bring division across the country which is not a good thing for economic growth. However, not all politicians usually rally against tribal politics, as some believe that some communities owe them big political debts that are supposed to be repayed.
