According to the 2017 IEBC voter database, Rift Valley leads with the number of registered voters at 4.7 million, followed by Central Kenya with 4 million voters, Nairobi is third with 3.38 million, Ukambani follows with 3.2 million, Nyanza comes fifth with 3 million, Western Kenya is sixth with 2.8 million and to wrap up the top 7 the Coastal region has 2.65 million voters.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commenced voter registration exercise in Kenya on 4th October 2021. The exercise is part of the electoral body’s Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) that was officially launched on Monday October 4 at the Nakuru Athletic Club by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and will run through to November 2, 2021.The exercise will continue for a month across all the 1,450 Wards in Kenya.
Today morning Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda urged residents of Kakamega County to turn up in masses in the ongoing countrywide Mass Voter Registration exercise. Speaking today during a local Radio interview, Muhanda said that it was only through voter registration that the County as well as Western Region will have a say in the forthcoming polls (2022 General elections).
According to the sources on September, 22 the independent electrol boundary commission(IEBC) announced that it is targeting a total of six million new voters ahead of 2022 general election. Mount Kenya unity forum members principals having been holding a press conference today to speak about the voters registration exercise launched by BBI yesterday. The press started nine hours back today. The Mount Kenya unity forum senior Martha Karua urged all eligible voters in Mt. Kenya to come out and register as voters because every vote counts.
