Massive irregularities at the state-run Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) were exposed in August 2020, including procurement violations and the misappropriation of public and donor monies allocated for the country's COVID-19 response. KEMSA broke multiple regulations in granting $72 million worth of tenders, according to investigations.
