M23 Movement on Wednesday night released a statement after the military reportedly used heavy weapons and fighter jets to hit them from their strongholds. In the statement released by the group's political spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka, DRC Forces reportedly used fighter jets and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) to hit the rebels.

The M23 Movement has this morning cried out after the military reportedly stormed their positions and opened fire. M23 Spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka used social media to air out their concern after they spotted heavy weapons that the military was using. In a tweet seen by this writer, Kanyuka noted that the government of DRC had forgotten the peace talks that former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been facilitating in his quest for peace in the eastern side of DRC.

Amid the ongoing peace talks to restore peace in the eastern part of DR-Congo, M23 rebels have alleged that they have been working together with ordinary people in commutes. Kenyan troops deployed in Democratic Republic of Congo DRC under the United Nations Organinization Stabilization Mission in DRC (MONUSCO) carried out patrol duties in the general area of Mamove village within Beni-Mavivi territory. During the four-days Long Range patrol mission, the troops were received by Chief of Operations Congolese National Army FARDC Colonel Morris and Chief of Intelligence Congolese National Army FARDC Colonel Gasto who assured KDF troops of their full support during the entire mission.
