Opened in September 2014, Kaimosi Friends University College sits on 100 acres within The Kaimosi Education Complex in Hamisi Constituency, Vihiga County. The institution has been operating as a constituent college of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. According to the announcement made through the institution's official social media accounts, the higher learning institution is set to be awarded University charter on 28th July 2022.

The event which was scheduled to go down at state house on 28th, July 2022 had been rescheduled to 2nd, August 2022 at the at the College grounds. 1. Kaimosi Friends University College. Kaimosi Friends University College is a public-spirited institution that was estatablished in the year 2014. The University College was gazetted as a constituent college of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on May 22, 2015, vide Legal notice number 87 of the Kenya Gazette Supplement number 65.
In the event held at Kakamega states lodge and presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday, Kaimosi Friends University College was among the eight Universities issued with charters. President Uhuru Kenyatta has awarded charters to 8 universities as his term nears to end on 9th August 2022. The president awarded the charter to the respective university leaders at Kakamega state lodge on August 2nd, 2022. The institution of higher learning education was Kaimosi Friends University College (Vihiga county), Tom Mboya University(Homa Bay), Alupe University (Busia), Tharaka Niithi University, Lukenya University (Makueni), Kirir Women's University Of Science and Technology(Nairobi), Zetech University(Kiambu) and East African University( Kajiado) were elevated to fully-fledged universities.
On Thursday, July 28, Kaimosi Friends University College (Kafuco) will get a university charter at State House in Nairobi, making it the first in Vihiga County. The new development was verified by Principal Jack Nandi, who stated that the college was authorized after many inspections by the Committee for University Education.
It's now clearly that the fourth wave of this pandemic is looming and very soon learning activities in the following counties are going to be disrupted including learning . This is due to the high rate of positivity in those counties in the past few weeks. As a result, this could see the government closing down the following institutions in order to curb the rising number of cases: Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Masinde Muliro University of science and technology, Kisumu National Polytechnic, Kaimosi Friends University College, Kisii University, Kibabii University, Kitale National Polytechnic, and Rongo University.
