Yesterday Kenya Air Force commander,Major General John Omenda,presided over the graduation ceremony at the Defence Forces Technical college at Embakasi Garisson.This was the 17th Graduation ceremony at the said institution.

In his meeting today, President Uhuru Kenyatta promoted Brigadier John Omenda to the rank of major general as he appoints him as Kenya Air Force commander.
Weeks after President Uhuru Kenyatta effected major military adjustments in his capacity as the commander in chief of the armed forces, the recently appointed Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla has finaly handed over his instruments of power as the outgoing Commander of the Kenya Air Force (KAF) to his successor, Major General John Omenda in a colourful event at the Moi Air Base (MAB), Nairobi.
Maj Gen Ogolla will replace Lt Gen Franklin Mghalu who will retire after 40 years of service in the military. President Kenyatta also promoted Brigadier John Omenda to the rank of Major General and appointment him Commander Kenya Air Force. The Head of State also upheld the recommendation of the Defence Council chaired by Defence Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma by making various promotions, posting and appointments of KDF officers.

The Commander Kenya Air Force (KAF) Major General John Omenda graced the Flying Training School (FTS) and Junior Leadership Command (JLC) course graduation event at Laikipia Air Base (LAB). The FTS graduands included Pilot Officers who started their course with special ground training then continued to the flying stage, beginning with the Bulldog airplane and later ghe four unique kinds of helicopters flown by KDF.

The Commander, Kenya Air Force (KAF) Major General John Omenda presided over the 17th graduation ceremony of the Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) on 1 October 2021 at Embakasi garrison, Nairobi. A total of 15 Officers graduated after successfully completing an Engineering Officers Course while 228 service members graduated with diplomas and certificates in various fields among them aeronautical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering.
