In the early up to mid 2000s, there existed a music genre known as 'genge'. It was a type of Kenyan hip hop music. Artists such as [email protected], Jua Cali and Nonini were among those who perfected the genre. This music ruled the airwaves and it was not strange to hear someone singing along to "under18" by [email protected] or "Bidii Yangu"by Jua Cali in a matatu.
