A rally that had been planned by the United Democratic Movement (UDA) on Sunday, January 16 in Kitale, Trans Nzoia, was called off at the last minute. According to multiple media reports, four MPs who are allies of Deputy President Wiliam Ruto, were blocked from accessing the venue because they did not have a permit.

Four Mt Kenya leaders allied to DP William Ruto were scheduled to have a meeting with Kikuyu Community leaders in Trans Nzoia but the meeting didn't take as planned. The four legislator included Rigathi Gachagua, Alice Wahome, Jane Kihara and Kimani Ngunjiri They were intending to meeting Mt Kenya leaders from the region but it was cut short by claims that they had not requested for the permit to hold a meeting in the region.
Jane Kihara who is also the Naivasha member of parliament has made it clear Senator Mithika Linturi said nothing wrong in the Eldoret rally. According to her, it's the system and the deep state that has panicked after realizing DP Ruto is going to form government ahead of the 2022 general election.
