M23, a rebel outfit in Democratic Republic of Congo, has suffered a blow in their efforts to gain ground in North Kivu Province, Goma specifically. This follows Kenyan troops taking strategic control of Goma, including the international airport in the area. The East African Community Regional Force commander, Maj. Gen. Jeff Nyagah, said the presence of Kenyan troops in Goma is to ensure that M23 rebels do not take over city.
