The plan was not a brilliant one and the fact that it relied on the genius of a handful of low ranking officers in the military, meant that there was little chance of success.

The Kenya Air Force's low-ranking officers, led by Senior Private Hezekiah Ochukah, attempted to take over the State House, but the plan backfired. They were able to convince Kenyans for a few hours that they had taken over the country after broadcasting the takeover on the radio.
