The Ministry of Health has declared 11 new COVID-19 infections, assessed from a sample size of 2,463 people in the last 24 hours. The new diseases, with a positivity rate of 0.5 percent, raise the list of confirmed positive cases to 254,951, and the total tests so far conducted to 2,827,102.

A total of 1,867 Covid-19 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, Health Ministry has said. In a statement to newsrooms, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 5,190 other patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. Kagwe said out of the hospital admissions, 135 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 90 of whom are on ventilatory support, 43 on supplemental oxygen and two are under observation.

Out of this figure, 1,160,809 Kenyans have received their first dose while 721,179 have received their second dose representing a 62.1% second dose uptake. The funds have enabled the Health Ministry to procure automated and manual tests kits, Personal Protective equipment (PPEs), offer support towards procurement and installation of Oxygen equipment and to enforce containment and control activities at community levels.
