Becoming a young mother can happen to every girl as long as she has reached puberty which on average begins at the age of 11 years. At this age, the girl is still at the primary level of her education. Last year the number of teenage pregnancies was shocking and has never been seen before.
President Kenyatta urged world leaders on Thursday to continue investing in education by enacting supportive policies and increasing domestic resource allocation to the sector. Simultaneously, the President emphasized the importance of embracing digital technology and realizing its full potential in education. “I envision a world in which every child has access to digital technology as a tool to learn as much as they want and to experience the world from the comfort of their classroom or home."
Kenya national examination council has put in place mechanisms to assess learners to find out the impact of COVID-19 on learning ability of school going children. The program will be undertaken in conjunction with Global Education program in a bid to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and aid recovery. The exercise which will start on October 19 to October 23 will first target class eight and grade four. Immediately there is full resumption of learning, other classes will follow.
