Police on Thursday had to lob teargas gannisters to disperse rioting protestors in Eldoret town. This was after the officers engaged in running battles with the demonstrating Eldoret Soko community, municipal askaris and street families. The scuffles started after the soko community came out in numbers to demonstrate against alleged mistreatment by Kanjo Askaris in their businesses.
The tough economic times has continued to eat into most Kenyans who can now barely make a meal for their family. This has left most families struggling with the basic needs forcing some to do anything that comes their way so as to see the next day. Today, there were chaotic scenes in Eldoret Town after the residents stormed a supermarket in the town and stole what they could manage to carry.

According to the reports by the Nation , it is reported that the men who operate a certain Mutura business transported the meat from Nairobi even though they maintained that the meat wasn't for Mutura or rather consumption purposes.
