The former President of Zambia, Edgar Chagwa Lungu has shocked many after declaring his early retirement just days after he was defeated. Edgar was defeated by the sitting President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema with a nearly million votes but out of all, he conceded defeat and Hichilema was sworn in to serve Zambian's for the next 5 years.
Zambia President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has been voted out by Zambians in favour of opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema. Hakainde Hichilima garnered 2.8 million votes, while Lungu was in second place with over 1.8 million votes in the vote held last Thursday. "I, therefore, declare that the said Hichilema to be president of Zambia," said electoral commission chairman in capital Lusaka.

Zambia has been thrown into morning again after its chief justice succumbed to an unknown illness on Sunday evening. According to a statement released by the national government, Justice Irene Chirwa Mambilima passed away after a short illness at 17:00 Zambian time. The statement from President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu read that the Late Chief Justice had traveled to Egypt on 10th June to an official duty but she, unfortunately, fell ill while undertaking her normal duties.
