The Daily Nation Newspaper today has claimed that the Africa Court on Human and People’s Rights has adviced that African Union member States are at liberty to call off an election if there is an emergency or a health crisis. The Court delivered judgment on the request on Friday, July 16.The Court found that the pandemic demands that measures are taken to prevent transmission of the virus, “without undermining the integrity of the electoral process” and such measures may include postpone elections because of the pandemic.
