Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei has sought a Statement from the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget, on the slashing of salaries and allowances for the Members of County Assemblies (MCA's) in the financial year 2022/2023. The Committee is required to state reasons for the reduction of MCA's salaries, removal of their sitting allowances, car grants and mileage allowances since 2022 to date; and whether there is any engagement between the County Assemblies Forum and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission with the view to reinstate salary terms and allowances for all MCA's in the financial year 2023/2024.
