After finishing as winners of 2020/2021 football Kenya Federation Premier League champions and securing a spot in the CAF champions league,Tusker FC are now in Mombasa in preparation for the upcoming season.Also they are signing new players to boost their squad.This is after releasing 11 players who helped them clinch the league title.Among the released players include former MVP Mike Madoya,Goerge Odhiambo,Chris Ochieng,Chrispinus Onyango,Luke Namanda and Faraj Ominde.The first on the list of new players in the club is Kenyan international shotstopper Patrick Matasi who made a star performance during the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt.He had previously featured for Tusker FC in the Kenyan Premier League,Posta Rangers,and later Ethiopian Premier League side St Georges FC.Matasi becomes the fourth signings for the brewers.Other signings include former Wazito star Teddy Osok,Tanzanian internationals Ibrahim and Kalos Protus.The also secured the signature of Gor Mahia centre back Charles Momanyi.Others expected to sign with the club are John Njuguna of Ulinzi Stars and Dan Sakari of Kariobangi Sharks.
The betking premier league continued today with the battle for the top spot gained momentum.13 times KPL champions AFC Leopards were dealt a blow after they suffered a 3-1 loss to high flying Bidco United at the Ruaraka Sports Grounds.Leopards came into this match lying on position 2 with 35 points and a win could have possibly taken up the log to 1st place 1 point above Tusker FC.Thika based side took the lead in the 7th minute after a well connected back pass by Alex Juma.Former Tusker midfielder added the second goal in the 41st minute to give Bidco a convincing 2-0 lead at halftime.After the halftime break Bidco continued to look for more goals and their efforts were rewarded in the 68th minute after David Orem scored the third goal for the day.Bievenue Shaka scored the consolation goal for Leopards in the 81st minute from a Harrison Mwendwa's delivery.Elsewhere in Mumias,Tusker FC thrashed Vihiga United 4-0 to claim back the top spot in the log.The brewers goals were scored by Rising Stars forward Heney Meja,Humphrey Mieno,Chris Ochieng and Aloro Rodgers.They lead the log standings with 38 points from 18 matches played,while KCB FC and AFC Leopards are tied 2nd and 3rd respectively with 36 points each.
