The agreement, which was reached during the China-Africa Fruits Promotion Conference that took place in Nairobi and was spearheaded by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPBA), Wilfred Marube, will enable Kenya to export frozen avocados to China.

Kenyan avocado farmers are eager to take advantage of prospects in emerging countries like China, where the demand for avocados has skyrocketed. Kenya's avocado exports to China reached Sh7 billion in the three months leading up to October, surpassing the revenue realized in the first seven months of the year.

Kenya closes avocado harvest season, bans exports by sea
To prevent the early harvest of popular fruit kinds like Hass, Fuerte, Pinkerton, and Jumbo, the horticulture regulatory body has frozen avocado harvests and exports by sea as of November 15. After November 15, growers will not be permitted to export the well-known avocado kinds via sea, according to Horticulture Crops Directorate Head Benjamin Tito.
