The parents of the suspected killer Innocent Kalio Makokha blame the police for their son's freedom that led to the murder of Kiriri Women's University student Christine Ambani. His parents who spoke to the Standard stated that they thought their son was in jail for the murder of three other people.

Christine Ambani, a student at Kiriri Women’s University, was killed in a cold murder by his ex-boyfriend in a hotel room in Githurai 45. The suspect killer has since been arrested while investigations are ongoing. The father revealed that they had been receiving threatening messages from the suspect and now want the culprit kept in custody, claiming that their lives are in danger.
