Residents of Makenji area of Kandara in Murang'a County are in mourning after six family members were burnt to death in an arson attack. It is sad to lose so many people in a single family at a time and the deceased have been identified as a widow Mary Wangui Njoroge, 60 and her three children Cecilia Gathoni, 30, Lucy Mumbi, 18, Margaret Wanja, 15 and her grandchildren as well aged 7 and 3, Jackline Wambui and Alvine Kiarie respectively.

Suspect on Murang'as arson attack has been detained for 21 days
A main suspect in the Sunday morning arson attack in Kandara constituency that killed six family members has been imprisoned for 21 days. Senior Resident Magistrate Eric Mutunga of Kandara granted DCI officials permission to detain Ms Alice Nyambura while they conduct their investigations. The suspect must appear in court on May 3 for further instructions, according to the court.
