On Monday, June 14, 2021, an inferno destroyed a section of an apartment building in the Thiong'o Road area, off Waiyaki Way. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around midday and quickly spread to the point where the roof of the building caved in.
Screams and panic rented the air at Silibwet town on Friday afternoon after a part of the busy town caught fire. Traders and onlookers tried to put off the fire unsuccessfully, Bomet county disaster department responded swiftly. The Bomet county fire engine saved the situation early enough.
