The Kenyan government has been accused of abandoning Pakistani nationals when they arrived in Kenya a few days ago. According to reliable sources, the nationals allegedly paid Kenyan brokers a total ksh450,000 just to be abandoned.
Syedah Saqlain, Pakistan's High Commissioner to Kenya, expressed her displeasure by stating that despite having paid a large sum of money, the brokers who were supposed to help them find rental properties and provide for their needs abandoned them. The Pakistanis were compelled to land in Kenya because their country has been identified as having the largest number of cases of covid-19, which means they are not permitted to go to certain countries.
They are likely to depart the nation soon for Saudi Arabia, where they will be employed as manual laborers. The news of their arrival in Kenya was made public after 14,000 Pakistanis were apprehended looking for a place to rent in Nairobi's streets.
Cyrus Oguna, the government's spokesman, came out to clear the air after Kenyans on social media raised alarm, claiming to be from Afghanistan.
They were foreigners with proper documents, according to Oguna's statement.
