US national and his three employees arrested fir selling fake Covid-19 certificates to travellers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)

Their arrest comes barely three weeks when the Middle East served Kenya with a red alert when some of its travellers were arrested with fake Covid-19 Certificates.

The operator of Checkup Medical Center, Dr Moka Lantun was nabbed inside his business shops on Tuesday afternoon by airport police officers and officials drawn from the Ministry of Health.

Dr Moka told the press that they were being detained at JKIA Police Station, pending their arraignment on Thursday, January 27 .

“Ministry of Health experts headed by Patrick storm the shops on Tuesday morning. They never gave any reasons for the arrest but perused our record files and data, inspecting everywhere inside the premises,” Dr Moka told the press on phone interview.

Dr Moka added that on December 21, 2021, they were issued with a notification letter from the Ministry of Health stopping the operations at the premises.

On Thursday, January 13, the premises halted its operations in accordance with the Ministry of Health directives but confirmed that they went to court to dismiss the move.
