Revealed: Amount Of Money In Millions Urgently Needed To Purchase Booklets For Printing Passports

Kenya is among the countries in Africa with the strongest passports which enable it's citizens to travel to various parts of the country with fewer restrictions.

However, since the pandemic, the restorations of air travel services have been a bit slow as there has been backlogs in the visa process. The immigration department has recently announced a shortage of printing materials for passports and the amount of money urgently required to purchase them.

On the news hitting the airwaves on Monday is that, Kenyans who have applied for passports will have to wait longer so as to get the travel document. This is after the Immigration department has announced shortage of booklets for printing passports.

According to Daily Nation, Immigration and Citizen Services Director-General Alexander Muteshi has requested the government via the National Treasury to urgently fund the department with Ksh 300 million to fund the process. However, only half of the specified amount has been disbursed to the department.Nonetheless, Kenyans will have to wait for longer so as to receive the passport travelling documents after the backlog is reversed.
