Why France is Worth Visiting

France is one of the best counties in the world to visit. It is located in Western Europe bounded by the English Channel to the North, the Mediterranean Sea to the South and Bay of Biscay (Atlantic Ocean) in the North. France covers an area of about 643, 801km². The North and West sides of France are categorized as flat and plainy whereas the South and East sides are in essence a bit mountainous as in the Alps, where the highest mountain, Mont Blanc is located.

France is a major tourist destination given that it has very hot and dry summers and many tourist attraction sites. Moreover, according to the UN World Tourism Organisation, France was named as the most popular destination for tourists with an estimate of 84.7 million tourists the previous year.

First, I would like to start by visiting Paris, the City of love. This is because it’s a global center for fashion, culture and art. The Eiffel Tower for starters is the most visited monument in the world. According to the tower was built by Gustave Eiffel to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the French revolution. It is also a symbol of the French engineering and the showcase of Paris.

Additionally, I would love to visit the world’s largest museum, Louvre Museum still in Paris that has more than 35,000 exhibits. Notre Damme is also one of the sites to see in this bustling city.

Secondly, the wines and sophisticated cuisines are to die for. Wine is an important part of French culture and cuisine hence France is the leading wine producer in the world. The Bordeaux region is one of the most famous regions with wine in the world. This region is home to Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc red grapes.

The regional cuisine like the beef dishes pair well with the red wines while Bordeaux’s regional seafood pairs well with the white wines. Chardonnay and champagne are also some famous wines from France. Cuisines such as the famous Raclette was conceived by the French shepherds of the Swiss Alps.

Slices of the Raclette Swiss cheese are melted and served with French bread and boiled or roasted potatoes, gherkins. It can be paired with spices like lemon grass, anise and fennel.

France is a beautiful country with a rich cultural heritage ranging from art, architecture and remnants of its numerous political struggles since the age of Napoleonic wars to date. It’s filled with lovely sites all waiting to be explored and eager to reveal their rich history to any willing tourist. If you are looking for a dream destination, France would definitely be at the top of the list.
