Why The Sea Found Between Israel And Jordan Is Known As The "Dead Sea"

Most of us especially those interested in adventure have heard about a sea known as "The Dead Sea" which is found in between Israel and Jordan.

What we don't know is why it was given that name. So that's what we are going to talk about in this article. Be sure to read to the end to be informed.

It's known to be the deepest sea on Earth, it has a depth of 997 feets with a density of 1.24kg/litre. This makes most of the people swimming in the sea to feel like they are floating.

It's main source of water is River Jordan.

This sea is 9.6 times saltier than oceans making it the saltiest sea in the world. It's known to attract tourists from all over the world who want to feel it's experience.

It's always referred to as the Dead Sea because it cannot be a habitat for aquatic animals, plants and organisms like fish and sea animals.

It's alkaline in nature hence making the conditions too unbearable for the living things and that's why it was given that name by our forefathers.
