Kenya Airways announced flight disruptions on 9th January 2023, due to delay in scheduled maintenance of some aircrafts. The airline explained that this happened due to global challenges that are affecting the supply of some aircraft components.

In a statement, Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka explained that the Russia-Ukraine War has affected the supply of important raw materials used in global aviation. Russia being one of the countries limited by the war, important resources found in the country such as 35% titanium used in Boeing have limited supply.

"The challenges have been occasioned by the Ukraine war crisis which has significantly crippled Russian supply chain crucial to global aviation. The aviation supply chain is highly dependent on raw materials from many countries including Russia. For example, 100% titanium used on Embraer and 35% titanium used in Boeing are sourced from Russia. With a limited inventory, airlines have had to look worldwide to find the parts they need." The Kenya Airways apologized to customers for inconveniences caused by the disruptions and vowed to find solutions to minimize disruptions.Statement issued by Kenya Airways/Courtesy.
