Politicians Likely To Suffer Huge Blow as Military Takes Over Control of Popular Airport

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has announced a temporary closure of the Wilson Airport on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, August 5.

It has been confirmed that flights arriving and departing from the airport will be affected. The airport control will be under the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) for at least six hours on specified days.

KCAA, Kenya's airspace regulator has confirmed to the media that the closure of the airport would last for six hours starting 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

KDF will be carrying out their military operations and drills during those specified hours and days.

"To all our esteemed customers, please note Wilson Airport will be closed on July 28, 2022, and August 5, 2022, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For further clarification regarding the new timings, call our reservations team," read part of the statement from a local airline.

Politicians are among those to be affected the most

For obvious reasons, politicians stand to be affected the most as the country gets nearer to the general election. Wilson Airpot has been the departing point for most politicians who uses choppers and other planes to tour different parts of the country to sell their agenda.

Both Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga sides have been boarding their choppers from Wilson Airport before heading to their rallies.
