Kisumu is an ideal destination for a weekend, given away that it is only about an hour away from Nairobi by flight. You will take about six hours to arrive in Kisumu when you use road. Moving around this lakeside city is also easy given that there are tuktuks, boda boda, and taxis around.
Kisumu is a good base from which you can explore western Kenya. The lakeside city has several places you can explore. These include Impala Sanctuary, Abindu Caves, Kit Mikayi, Kisumu Museum, Riat Hills, and Ndere Island National Park.
There is one place by the name Dunga which you should never miss. Dunga is a place that sits right next to Lake Victoria.

The Lake Market has the saloons and clothing boutiques where ladies can pay a visit. The Oginga Odinga street is battling with stores on either side, and malls like West End, Mega Plaza United Mall and more which are great for shopping.
