6 Countries Where Sun Never Sets And There Is No Night

Today, I share with you a list of six countries that experience The Midnight Sun and Polar effects during particular times of the year. These two natural phenomena occur during the summer when the sun does not set and in winter when the sun remains below the horizon respectively.

Here are the only six countries where this natural phenomenon occurs.

1. Alaska

Initially, it belonged to Russia but they sold it to the United States Of America. Some people refer to it as the state of beautiful glaciers. The sun does not set between May to July. The sun only sets at 12.30 am in the Summer solstice. This occurs in Fairbanks town which is located in the south of the Arctic circle. It mainly occurs here because Fairbanks is 51 minutes ahead of its time zone.

2. Canada

Canada is one of the biggest countries in the world. In places like Northwest and Inuvik, the sun does set during the summer. These places receive continuous sunlight for about 50 days. During this particular time of the year, the country is covered by snow.

3. Norway

Norway is located within the Arctic Circle and it's often referred to as the land of the midnight sun. In this country, the sun does not set for about 20 hours between late May to late July for 76 days.

4. Finland

During the summer, The sun does not set for about 76 days while during the winter most parts don't receive sunlight. The sun keeps on shining even during the night. During this time many tourists visit the country to experience this natural phenomenon.

5. Sweden

Due to its geographical location, The sun does not set between May to August. The sunset around midnight and rises again at around four in the morning. In Sweden, there are no nights for around 100 days.

6. Iceland

This is the largest island by area in the world and the second-largest Island in Europe after Great Britain. Here the sun never sets but travels horizontally across the horizon throughout the night. This phenomenon occurs between early May to July in the summer. The sunset at midnight and rises at 3 am.
