The hotel industry in Naivasha has been greatly promoted by local tourists who come to participate in the Kenya World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari rally. According to George Njuguna, CEO of Bella safaris, hotels in Naivasha, Nakuru and Elementaita have reported 100% of bookings. Mr. Njuguna said: "These hotels have a good business and many of them are full." In addition, he pointed out that due to the lack of hotel accommodation, rally fans have turned the open field into a campground.
Organizers said that at least 10,000 people from all over the world are expected to participate in the event, which is expected to inject 600 million shillings into the economy. This event represents a major driving force for the tourism industry, which is recovering from the COVID19 interruption.
As countries maintain strict cross-border restrictions, the number of international tourists has dropped sharply. 58 drivers have been confirmed to participate in this event, the most famous of which is Sébastien Ogier (Sébastien Ogier), who has won 7 WRC championships in the past 8 seasons.
