The government today has suspended all planes traveling to and from India after a rise in the spread of the deadly covid-19 virus in India. Mutahi Kagwe who is the cabinet secretary of health has today announced that the suspension on travels to India will commence on Saturday 1st May 2021.
The spread of the covid-19 pandemic has risen in India with the Indian government planing to undertake a mass vaccination on its citizens. More than 18 million people have been infected with the virus and on Wednesday alone, 3293 have died.
The Indian government was expected to send Kenya several vaccine cargo but the plans could not materialise due to the current worse situation in India. All flights to and from India have been suspended for a period of 14 days. The suspension starts on Saturday to allow those planning to travel back form India some 72 hours to do so.
